New York Woman Files Latest Ortho Evra® Lawsuit

Attorneys for a New York woman who suffered a pulmonary embolism due to the Ortho Evra® birth control patch recently announced that they have filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson, the maker of Ortho Evra®.

The injured woman began using Ortho Evra® at the age of 21 in 2003. Within 3 months, she was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism. The Ortho Evra® patch which caused her pulmonary embolism has prevented her from using any other type of hormonal birth control and may cause her future medical complications.

The New York woman alleges that at the time she used Ortho Evra®, Johnson & Johnson knew that the use of the Ortho Evra® patch created an increased risk of pulmonary embolism, blood clots, stroke, and death. Johnson & Johnson's knowledge of the health risks involved with using Ortho Evra® and their failure to warn women solidifies their disregard for the safety of the women using the Ortho Evra® birth control patch.
